Learning Live Conference and Exhibition 2024: Our key takeaways

September 30, 2024

LPI’s LEARNING LIVE conference and exhibition is an annual, two-day event for leaders and decision-makers in learning and development (L&D). It brings together leading L&D experts, brands, and professionals all under one huge roof.

In addition to the free-to-attend exhibition where L&D businesses showcase their products, the event also has a top-quality conference programme allowing delegates to hear industry experts’ latest developments.

Our chief scientist, Dr Tal Nevo, and Michael O’Neill, our strategic partnerships manager, attended both days and have just returned from the event held in London.

Guess what? This year’s event proved to be just as valuable as ever.

The entire two days were filled with active discussions about the challenges and opportunities for L&D leaders. It was the perfect opportunity to chat with other industry experts, learn about current challenges, and reflect on the many opportunities available.

Read why we prioritised the Learning Live conference over other global L&D events. Find out what common struggles other L&D leaders face and how Blossom can address them.

Why did we attend Learning Live?

As we promoted Blossom, there was ample time for rich conversations with the L&D community. These discussions gave us valuable insights into learning leaders’ current pain points, from underutilised LMS systems to the growing need for personalised, adaptable solutions.

What specific goals did we set out to achieve by attending this event?

  1. Increase the exposure of the Blossom brand to as large a relevant audience as possible.
  2. Receive feedback from L&D professionals regarding challenges, problems, and their goals in the field.
  3. Expand our professional network with suitable people from the field.

What did we hear learning leaders talk about?

We could go into much detail here, but it’d take you about a week to read!  So, we’re focusing on the main points.

There were many discussions about AI for L&D. We listened to colleagues talk about ChatGPT prompts and how to use them. We discovered a desire to integrate advanced technologies and AI.

We also listened to organisations and how there is a high degree of dissatisfaction with well-known solutions and large LMS platforms, which are characterised by a lack of flexibility to the customer’s needs and a low level of service.

Dr Tal said, “It was very important for me to receive feedback from the field regarding the needs and challenges in organizational learning. For the Blossom platform to provide optimal solutions for L&D, I needed to meet with L&D professionals, have an open and honest dialogue, present solutions, and learn from their experiences. The LPI conference enabled exactly this kind of unmediated communication, which we fully took advantage of.”

Top challenges faced by L&D leaders

We listened to what learning leaders struggle with and heard these loud and clear:

  1. Lack of good support and service from LMS providers
  2. Lack of flexibility in the LMS system
  3. Using multiple systems, in addition to the LMS, makes it very difficult to manage learning and knowledge processes properly
  4. Lack of attention from the C-suite level
  5. Reduced budgets and proving L&D’s return on investment

With organisations trying to overcome these issues, learning leaders explained how they could not fully utilise the capabilities of the LMS systems they purchased because of a mismatch between them and their organisational needs.

For this reason, L&D experts are trying to find indirect solutions by integrating more peripheral applications with the central LMS system. At the same time, organisations seek a specifically adapted LMS solution that will adequately address their unique challenges and goals.

We also learned that the quality of mainstream LMS providers has yet to improve. The lack of adaptability or customisation makes it difficult for organisations to tailor the systems to their specific needs or integrate them with other tools easily.

Having a booth at the exhibition allowed us to position Blossom as a market leader in learning experience platforms. This gave us a direct opportunity to showcase what sets Blossom apart from other learning technologies, highlighting our product’s unique features and benefits and how it addresses the specific needs and challenges faced by L&D professionals.

  • “I’ve learned that the quality of mainstream LMS providers hasn’t improved since I joined Blossom; service and flexibility are the main issues.” –Michael O’Neill

The difference between Blossom and other learning technologies

At Blossom, we see our customers as true partners—they’ve contributed to our growth just as much as we’ve contributed to theirs. It might sound cliché, but it’s true: the Blossom platform wouldn’t be what it is today without our customers, their feedback, and our shared commitment to success in all its forms.

Blossom’s modular design and flexible pricing plan make it a far more affordable solution than other enterprise learning experience systems. Our fully customisable learning experience platform aligns system capabilities with your organisation’s specific needs. With adaptable features and a focus on practical integration, Blossom ensures your software is a central hub and a tool that fully supports your learning and development goals.

The best part?

Blossom offers modular flexibility and pricing, making it a far more affordable solution than many other enterprise learning experience systems. Unlike other learning platforms, Blossom grows with you. This means you can simply start with the features you need and add new modules as and when your business grows.

So what are the next steps for us?

It is very important to us to continue developing the Blossom platform and adding relevant technological capabilities, with an emphasis on AI. We strive to collaborate with leading content producers, integration companies, and providers of professional services and plan to reach out to those we met at the event to offer real solutions to their problems.

And we’re not stopping there.

We will constantly improve the level of service and support that Blossom provides to its customers.

(In case you didn’t know, Dr. Tal developed the idea behind Blossom in 2007, during his doctorate on the need for a computerised learning system adaptable to various industries. Since then, he has continued to enhance the system’s capabilities and expand its applications into new and innovative areas.)
